This is supper cool because I get to meet and greet these people at the door. It would be even cooler if I knew who on earth they were, but I rarely find out until after the fact.
Unbeknownst to me, I’ve met the editor of The Onion, several famous novelists, a former NY mayor, an astronaut and even – The Satorilist.
(What!! What was I wearing that day?)
Luckily one of the staff members and I are becoming fast friends, and she’s letting me in on some of the guests before they arrive. She even lets me know who has humility and who is full of self importance. Not that there’s anything wrong with either, but it is rather fascinating.
I heart NY.
That's awesome. I love finding out someone cool is coming in to work, then going all gaga and shy and hiding out in my office too afraid to go and say hello. Hopeless I am! When Nicole Kidman came into the Edge to watch some of Australia, i hid down in JT office almost under the desk, just peeking down the corridor waiting for her to walk down.. But you know the two biggest names who came to work and I just happened not to be there so I missed them? At the Edge - ELTON JOHN, and at my current place of work - TOM CRUISE!!! Geeezzz..
ReplyDeleteAli, it's still amazing that they came into yr work. I can't imagine how awesome it is to work at PRP. We will have to Skype one day so I can hear about how it compares with the edge.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder if I'll ever stop getting star struck. In Bris-edge I used to get an "industry-hard-on" for visiting DPs. Like the guy who shot the pilot episode of Sex and the City, or the DP who shot Evita and Alien. Even amazing commercial director's would be too intimidating for me to talk to. All I could manage was "coffee?"
